Last 3 Games in Review. 4/24, 4/25, 4/26

The first game I only got one baseball. A toss up from Astros Pitcher Bud Norris.

The second game I only got one baseball as well. A toss up during the 6th inning by Brewers RF Mark Kotsay.

The third game I had the big goose egg.

The last three games I’ve attended have been packed and I had crappy days. I can’t remember a 3 game span of me doing this bad. BLAH!

Season Total: a lousy 16 after 14 baseballs in my first 2 games.

Wednesday, April 6th 2011, Brewers V.S. Braves @ Miller Park

My buddy Tim would be attending this game with me and we went to Friday’s before the game for some Brewers batting practice. Only to find out you have to spend a minimum of $50 to sit at an outside table now. We looked at each other and decided we’d do it. We each got drinks, I had a soda and he had a beer. We got and appetizer of Motz Sticks and I ordered a Jack Daniel’s burger and he got a Bacon Cheeseburger. After that we got dessert. I got some oreo cookie ice cream thing and he got a mixed drink! Lol. We ended up spending 60$ between the two of us.

So, I got Brewers pitching coach Rick Kranitz to toss me a baseball right away. The first one he under threw then he got it right to me. That’s BASEBALL #1. The one baseball he under threw landed here:

It’s kind of a blury picture because I was trying to focus on BP. But later on, Zach Braddock tossed me that same baseball for BASEBALL #2. That summed up Friday’s and we left on an extra full stomach!

We went to wait by the LF gate and chatted it up with my buddy Richard who is a Miller Park usher and he told us all about how to get women. It was a funny conversation to say the least. When the gates opened I rushed to the LF bleachers and got nothing. No Easter Eggs or anything and the first group of BP was mostly lefties so I wondered over to RF.

I got to right field and there was maybe 20 people scattered throughout the bleachers. I know people don’t look very hard for baseballs and all the baseballs tend to roll down to the front row. So I walked along the front row and picked up two easter eggs along the way. People standing within 5 feet of both of them and never noticing them. Lucky me! BASEBALL #3 & #4 the really easy way!

When I was up there I saw somebody I knew and started talking to him. As we were talking Jason Heyward hit a ball I knew was going to land 4 rows down from me. I thought my buddy saw it so I did not move. Apparently he didn’t and it bounced off the stairs right back onto the field. I would have caught it. Easily.

After that I moved down into the Tundra Territory to try for a baseball and towards the end of BP I got Braves pitcher Craig Kimbrel to toss me BASEBALL #5 on the day which ended up being my last.

As for Tim, it was his first batting practice and he ended up with two baseballs as well! While successfully ripping a hole in his pants. But he was happy to get two baseballs and I’m sure his son was excited to see when he got home!

Here’s Tim and his Balls!:

Monday, April 4th 2011, Brewers V.S. Braves @ Miller Park

T’was Opening Day in Milwaukee and the air was a little cool. We left to go to Miller Park around 8:30 and it was a 1:00 game. We arrived around 9:15 and waited a good hour to park. After we parked Matt, my Dad, and I went and played some catch by the Harley Davidson Gate. The gates would open at 11:10 and I sprinted up to the LF Bleachers to hear baseballs bouncing off the bleachers. It was music to my ears.

I quickly picked up a Casey McGehee homer that was rattling in the seats and as I was picking that one up I found another baseball just chillin under a bleacher. That put me at BASEBALL #1 & BASEBALL #2 for the day. Great start not even being in the stadium for 2 minutes and locking up some baseballs on the day!

Shortly after that, Casey McGehee hit a BP homer that I ended up catching on the fly. After I caught that baseball, I looked down the row and noticed 2 Easter Eggs staring at me so I walked over and picked those up. Another 3 baseballs in the sack for BASEBALL #3,#4, and #5. I have never gotten more than 2 baseballs on Opening Day so I was jacked. Some lefties came up so I made my move to the RF Bleachers!

Once I made my way up to the bleachers. After around 5 minutes I ended up making a nice catch leaning over the railing, getting a kudos from Kameron Loe and Zach Braddock. I’m not sure who hit it. It was one of our lefties either Reed or Kotsay. So I was at BASEBALL #6 and I still wanted more.

I ended up asking newly acquired Pitcher Sergio Mitre for a baseball in Spanish and he tossed it up to me to put me at BASEBALL #7 on the day and then the Brewers ran off the field. It was the Braves turn to take some BP.

They didn’t hit much up but I got Jonny Venters and Scott Linebrink to each toss me a baseball to get me BASEBALL #8 & #9 and that was it for the day.

Some of the Packers threw out the first pitch and the Brewers lost 2-1 in the home opener. Were 0-4 but we’ll get back on track.
100_0350.JPGDuring the 6th and 7th inning I went with my dad to visit one of his bosses and he bought my Dad and I a beer! Good Man! He’s a Cubs fan but it’s all good. I mentioned to him I’ve never been to Wrigley and he said he’d try and get tickets! He also has a son who I think he said was 15 who I’m gonna bring along to a game one time. Try and teach him the art of catching baseballs.

9 Baseball’s, 3 Batted (2 on the fly), 3 Toss up’s, 3 Easter Eggs.

The Off Season

I recently attended Brewers On Deck last weekend and I must say it was great o get back into the baseball mood. Opening Day is only a month and a half away and I can not wait. The Brewers look promising this year and the team seems to be happy. We just need to get that Rickie Weeks deal done.

My plans this coming year consist of attending around 20 games at Miller Park and taking trips to Kansas City in April to visit Jeremy Jeffress, Lorenzo Cain, and Alcides Escobar. Then in June I’m planning on going to Miami for the Marlins series with Matt, Nick, and Kenny. Then two weeks after that if the plans come through going to historic Fenway park for a visit to see the Crew take on Red Sox Nation. Then to wrap up my road trips I’d like to hit up PNC Park in Pittsburgh with Wiley, Matt, and family.

I’m hoping to have another successful year in terms of catching baseballs and enjoying myself at the park. The Brewers keep me out of trouble in the summer. I will be attending the Arctic Tailgate sometime at the end of this month to get my Opening Day tickets and a few other games I’d really like to go to. I’ll take some pictures and have a post about the tailgate. Superbowl XLV is coming up!

My 2010 Year In Review

I attended 41 games in 2010. I had a good season with 3 game Home Runs,
159 baseballs on the year to Avg: 3.88/Game and reached 300+ career
baseballs. Out of the 41 games I went 20-21 for the teams I was rooting
for. Obviously the Brewers every game I saw them and a few games in
Chicago, Minnesota, Baltimore, and Cincinnati. I have now gotten a
baseball from 6 different Major League Stadiums and hopefully counting. I
had many great things happen this year as well like playing catch with
Jeremy Jeffress and getting his hat, Weeks & Hart’s batting gloves.

I had my high at the beginning of the year with my Weeks Homerun catch in the 2nd game of the season making Sportscenter and the game highlights. That was quite the experience. Here’s the catch:

year I would like to visit Pittsburgh, Florida, Kansas City and St.
Louis. Stadium’s I’ve already been to I’d like to hit up Cincinnati,
Chicago, Minnesota, Baltimore and of course Milwaukee again. Not all of
those places will happen but I will try to get at least 6 or 7 of the 10
or so listed. So, until Brewers on Deck or the Arctic Tailgate and
Opening Day 2011. I’m done blogging until next year. I’m easing up on
the ball hawking next year as well. Time to go snowboarding!

Sunday, October 3 2010, Brewers V.S. Reds @ Great American Ballpark

Once again today I woke up at 7 with the intentions of playing catch with Brewers Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress:

I started the day off wtih a John Axford autograph and after the team bus rolled in I was hoping that Jeffress was not on it. About 7 minutes later he pulled up in a taxi and asked me if I was going to be able to get inside with him. I said, “I’ll follow you, If anyone asks I’m with you”. So I followed him in the players entrance and we walked in and he told me he had to go change and to meet him on the field. I went up to the field and got a field pass! I could not believe it. I was on the field and playing catch with a MLB Player. We played catch for a few minutes and after I still got to stay on the field and watch BP. I talked with Carlos Gomez, Craig Counsell, and Brandon Kintzler as well. Before Jeffress went in he signed a baseball for me and gave me the two baseballs we played catch with. This was an experience of a lifetime! Than you Jeremy Jeffress. You made a fan for life! Here’s some pictures:

We would sit behind the dugout for the game and see something interesting. Braun hit a pop fly to RF during the 4th inning and he didn’t run it out or anything. Fielder came into the dugout after the inning and SCREAMED, ITS STILL A EFFING GAME! Braun was benched for the game due to his lack of hustling. I have a feeling he wants out of Milwaukee.

After the game Jeremy Jeffress tossed me his hat and I got Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks batting gloves. It was the best day of my life. I can’t thank Jeremy Jeffress enough.

2 Baseball’s, Catch with? haha
